Shroom and Gloom Tier List Hub

Demo-era ranks for cards, builds, and Foresight — not a 1.0 bible.

Tier List Hub

This hub is a demo-era snapshot of Shroom and Gloom, not a finished-game ranking. Team Lazerbeam is still iterating card pools, class kits, and meta rewards ahead of Steam Early Access on 10 September 2026. The only public evidence we can rank against is the free demo: Paperboy on the Forgotten Path, 26 handcrafted tunnels, and the grow / eat / mood engines the store page calls three playstyles.

Use a child page when you want a specific answer instead of a generic S-to-C dump:

  • Card tier list ranks systems and sourced names such as Distant Shadow, Parental Instinct, Hysterical Strength, Burning Sensation, Toasty, and Seasoned.
  • Build tier list compares eat engines, infinite growth, mood draw, and how Paperboy sits next to upcoming classes.
  • Foresight tier list covers relic-like passives, the eight hidden demo rewards, and named outliers such as Spring into Action.

How this list is scored

We score consistency through a full demo loop, not peak one-turn damage. A combat card that grows every fight beats a flashy roast that never finds food. A Foresight that quietly raises max HP beats a leftover-energy gimmick. Explore modifiers are judged on whether they keep the explore deck lean or clog it with extra shovels and one-off bash tools.

Honesty clause: Early Access is planned with two pathways and about 300 explore and combat cards per pathway, plus Paperboy, Concerned Parent, Lunchlady, Janitor, and Activist. Anything we mark S today can drop when The Facility’s pool lands. Revisit after launch instead of treating this as frozen meta.

What S, A, B, and C mean right now

S means draft it unless your deck already does that job. Growing attackers, reliable food generators, and spell-weakness lodges are the three jobs that carry Paperboy to the mushroom key. A means strong when the rest of the deck supports it: mood packages, extra camp warmth, and practice dummy visits. B is real but replaceable. C is frog-statue bait — forget it so you can draw the cards that feed or grow.

If you are still learning the loop, read how to play and how to eat enemies before chasing tiers. Food is the block equivalent in this game. There is no conventional defend pile, which is why eat engines sit so high.

How to use the list during a run

Before you pick a reward, ask which engine you are feeding. Grow wants the practice dummy and cards that stay in the deck. Eat wants Seasoned, Toasty, and explore tools that find more food. Mood wants draw and temporary rage, which Concerned Parent will lean on once Early Access unlocks that kit. The deck planner is the checklist version of that question.

Do not expect a full encyclopedia here. Hundreds of cards exist in datamines; we only rank systems plus names confirmed in patch notes, the developer diary, and the demo. That keeps the list honest until Team Lazerbeam publishes a stable Early Access pool.

When the September build ships, these ranks will be rewritten against the two-path roster instead of Paperboy-only tunnels. Until then, treat every S as a demo opinion with an expiry date, and keep a demo install handy so you can test the next patch yourself.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Shroom and Gloom questions.

Is this a finished-game tier list?

No. The full game is not released. These ranks use the free demo and will shift when Early Access lands on 10 September 2026.

Why rank systems instead of every card?

Inventing a giant fake card list would be wrong. We rank grow, eat, mood, and explore jobs, plus sourced names such as Distant Shadow and Parental Instinct.

Will Early Access change these ranks?

Yes. Two pathways, about 300 cards per path, and five characters will rewrite the meta. Recheck this hub after launch.

Which child page should I open first?

Open the card tier list if you are drafting, the build tier list if you want a playstyle, or Foresight before a meta pick.

Does Paperboy stay the only ranked character?

For the demo, yes. Concerned Parent, Lunchlady, Janitor, and Activist are Early Access kits, covered as upcoming rather than fully ranked.
