Shroom and Gloom Foresight Tier List
Eight hidden demo passives, ranked by role — no fake relic dump.
Foresight cards are Shroom and Gloom’s relic-like passives: always on, picked from hidden rewards, and carried between the moments the demo lets you keep them. The official gameplay overview is specific: eight Foresight rewards are hidden across the 26 handcrafted tunnels. Beat the demo and you unlock one of the Foresights you discovered that run for future explorers. That is meta-progression, not a mid-fight skill.
This page ranks roles and the handful of Foresights actually named in patch notes or recorded runs. We will not invent twenty fake relic titles. Early Access will reprint this list. Until 10 September 2026, treat every rank as a demo opinion.
Pair picks with the build tier list. An overeat Foresight on a grow-only deck is a wasted chest. A leftover-energy Foresight on a player who dumps every pip is also a waste.
How Foresight works in the demo
You find Foresight in dedicated rooms and end-of-run choices. Some chests say you will be granted a Foresight; some ending screens ask you to choose one for future explorers. They sit next to the mushroom key and The Gloom as long-term goals, which is why rushing the door with zero passives feels empty even if you “won.”
Because only eight exist in the demo, missing a hide is costly. Explore cards that reveal, unlock, or break (the June 2026 verb list) are how you reach those rooms. The explore deck is therefore part of Foresight hunting, not a separate minigame.
Rank legend
S — Matches the game’s real resource: HP and food. A — Strong with a committed engine. B — Situational; good if your habits already match it. C — Narrow, anti-synergistic, or historically buggy.
S-tier role: overeat for max HP
PC Gamer’s demo report is the sourced description: powerful passives that encourage you to overeat as much as you can to improve max HP. That role is S because Shroom and Gloom refuses conventional block. Max HP is the defend pile. A Foresight that turns extra Toasty and Seasoned snacks into a bigger life bar makes every future fight cheaper.
Play to it: generate food on purpose, do not skip corpses, and keep eat cards in the combat deck even when you are “full.” If you picked this and then frogged your roast line, you picked the wrong relic.
S-tier role: lethal save / second life
Demo recordings show a Foresight-style failsafe: if you would die, destroy the card and heal to a chunk of HP (footage often cites 50%). Whether your build shows it as “A gift from below” or similar flavor, the role is a once-per-run stabilizer. It is S for learning players and for Gloom-door attempts where one extra hit from room danger ends the run. It is slightly less mandatory for veterans who already eat correctly — still S, just less exciting.
A-tier role: start-of-explore food
“Ready to snack” style passives that draw an edible at the start of each exploration feed the S eat engine without costing combat draws. A-tier because they do nothing if you never linger or never have HP to spend. They shine when you actually use the explore deck instead of speed-running past feed and camp prompts.
A-tier role: on-kill heal
Footage of Foresight rooms includes heal on kill (small HP per enemy). That is a combat-passive cousin of eating. It is A rather than S because small heals lose to a real Toasty line, but it saves runs that whiff food generation. Pair it with lodges such as Distant Shadow so multi-enemy rooms actually proc it more than once.
A-tier role: energy bump
Extra energy (“energizing bath” style rewards appear in recorded Foresight rooms) is A if you have expensive grown attacks or dummy visits that compete with unlocks. It is not automatic S: unspent energy was the entire identity of one named Foresight, and that identity is awkward if you already dump your pips.
B-tier / patch history: Spring into Action
Spring into Action is the rare Foresight we can name from patch notes. Demo text: add a Fly Kick to your hand for each unspent energy after exploring. A July 2025 demo patch had to fix it drawing Fly Kicks and no other cards. That bug note is why this page exists instead of a fake relic wiki: Team Lazerbeam is still tuning these passives.
Rank today: B. Leftover-energy synergy is real if you play a lean explore curve and keep pips in the tank on purpose. It is a trap if you always empty the bar on bash + dig + dummy. After the patch it should at least let you draw the rest of your deck. It is not S unless your whole plan is “float energy, kick.”
Do not confuse Spring into Action with generic extra energy. One rewards discipline. The other just raises the ceiling.
B-tier: Unstoppable / Butcher-style end picks
End-of-demo footage shows choices such as Unstoppable and the Butcher as Foresights for future explorers. We list the names because players will search them. We do not invent full text boxes. Rank them B as a bundle: they are real, they are run-ending rewards, and without official tooltips a fake S would be dishonest. When EA ships, these get proper rows.
C-tier role: combat greed that fights the hand
Any passive that generates extra unplayable combat clutter belongs in C unless you are already a mood deck. Foresight should not duplicate Hysterical Strength if you cannot draw through it. Paperboy’s hand is small; relic-like effects that add more unplayables are how you skip Toasty and die.
How to hunt the eight
- Map rooms that advertise Foresight or “trippy” grants.
- Keep an unlock/reveal tool so locked chests are not skipped.
- Do not spend the mushroom key detour until you have at least one passive you understand.
- At the ending screen, pick the Foresight that matches the engine you actually played, not the flashiest name.
- Log what you found. Eight hides means your second run should path toward the ones you missed, not repeat tunnel one.
The demo walkthrough is the routing companion. This page is only the rank of what you find.
Early Access warning
Meta-progression was one of the last design problems Team Lazerbeam publicly “cracked” (September 2025 jam). Expect Foresight counts, carry-over rules, and names to change when two pathways and five characters ship. A demo S (overeat max HP) will probably stay good because eating is the game’s thesis. Spring into Action might be rewritten again. Unnamed Facility passives will appear.
Until then, hunt eight, pick HP and food, and ignore anyone posting a 20-relic tier list with homemade titles. If it is not in patch notes, the diary, or a recording, it is not on this page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Shroom and Gloom questions.
How many Foresights are in the demo?
Eight are hidden across the 26 tunnels, per the official gameplay overview. Beating the demo lets you unlock one you discovered.
Is Foresight the same as a relic in other deckbuilders?
Close. They are powerful passives that stay active. They are not extra cards you play from hand every turn.
What is Spring into Action?
A named Foresight that adds Fly Kicks for unspent energy after exploring. A 2025 patch fixed it drawing only Fly Kicks.
Which Foresight should I lock after a first win?
Prefer overeat/max HP or a second-life save if you saw them. Match the pick to eat or grow, not a random name.
Will Early Access keep these eight?
Unknown. Meta-progression is still in development. Recheck this page after 10 September 2026.
Why are Unstoppable and Butcher only B?
They appear as end-of-run names in footage, but we do not have stable official tooltips. B means real but not fully documented.
