Shroom and Gloom Updates Hub

Demo patches, festival drops, and the road into Early Access.

Updates Hub

Shroom and Gloom is still in development. This hub tracks what shipped, what the demo became, and what Early Access is actually promising — not rumor calendars. Team Lazerbeam posts monthly Steam and itch.io logs. Devolver Digital handles festival trailers. The full game is not released. Steam Early Access is scheduled for 10 September 2026 on Windows and macOS.

Split the timeline across three child pages:

  • Early Access — date, two pathways, five characters, 12–24 month EA window, and the September developer diary.
  • Demo updates — 14 May 2025 launch, the June 2026 mutation, Next Fest, 100k downloads, and Overwhelmingly Positive reviews.
  • News and dev logs — localization, 200k wishlists, Playtopia, the NorthernLion mention, and the June / July / August 2026 logs.

How to read dates on this wiki

When a Steam news post and a trailer disagree on a small detail (for example how many classes are playable on day one), we quote both and flag that content is still moving. That is normal for a game that spent 2025 as a demo and 2026 as a festival circuit. Do not treat an August log as frozen 1.0 design.

If you only want to play, skip the chronology and open demo and wishlist. If you want to know whether a mechanic you learned in 2025 still exists, start with demo updates — the June 2026 build rebuilt exploration (camp torches, feed, reveal / break / fix / unlock) and added a prologue plus a new Gloom ending.

Why the demo still matters after the EA date

The paid Early Access build is a different product: two paths toward The Gloom, unique card pools, and a wider roster than Paperboy. The demo remains the on-ramp. It is how most of the 100k-plus Steam downloaders learned Distant Shadow, Toasty, the practice dummy, and the frog statue. Keep it installed through September so you can compare an old run against the new pathways.

Community feedback is part of the patch story. Team Lazerbeam has been public about demo bugs (Spring into Action drawing only Fly Kicks, MegaShroom evolution issues, Gloom bleed when the door opened) and about festival work such as Playtopia’s 12-meter tunnel booth. Those notes belong in news, not as trivia on a combat guide.

What we will add after 10 September

This hub will grow a patch-note child whenever Team Lazerbeam ships a named EA update. Until then, do not expect a fake 1.0 changelog. The honest public record is: prototype on itch.io, Steam demo in May 2025, Overwhelmingly Positive by late 2025, PC Gaming Show and Next Fest in June 2026, 100k demo downloads in July, and a September 10 Early Access date in August.

Bookmark official links for Discord and Steam news, then come back here when a log drops. The next real update after this writing is the Early Access build itself — two paths, still in development, and not the finished game.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Shroom and Gloom questions.

Is the full game out?

No. Early Access is scheduled for 10 September 2026. The free demo is the playable build today. See Early Access.

When did the Steam demo launch?

14 May 2025. It later mutated for the 2026 festival season. Details live on demo updates.

Where are monthly Team Lazerbeam logs collected?

On news and dev logs, covering Playtopia, wishlists, localization, and the June through August 2026 posts.

Will this hub list every balance tweak?

No. We track dated public logs and festival drops. Tiny card tweaks belong in patch notes after Early Access ships.

How long will Early Access last?

Steam's EA FAQ says Team Lazerbeam plans 12 to 24 months. That is a plan, not a lock. Recheck Early Access if it changes.
